Creative Tuesdays - Jump In!

....or not....

Dear friends at Creative Tuesdays - I was very happy to note that CT is back in business! I loved this co-op, and the way it allowed for things to emerge due to the therapeutic nature of, a task a week, a creative task a week, really brings out things.

I have been updating various web thingies lately, which brings me back to blogging - was happy to see in Sunday Sketches that CT was on again - and seeing there might be a prize - well! I just had to jump in - this was drawn freehand on Photoshop, experimenting with layering

The theme immediately took  me back (see? therapy, har har) to one of the more traumatic events in my childhood (possibly more than once?). I was incapable of diving/jumping into a lake from a rock. It wasn't that tall of a distance but for some reason, the thought of hitting my head terrified me. Never mind that all the other kids did it, and were taunting me to do it - I stood there for like an hour, paralyzed, unable to either give up and go do something else, or jump in.

This drawing is a homage to all the fears and dangers, real or imagined, that have kept me from doing so much in life.

I am haunted by all the things I have been incapable of doing in life. Я преследовал всех вещей, которыми я был не в состоянии сделать в моей жизни

THe soundtrack to this little moment of joy was brought by Shostakovich - probably explains why it came out as it did - thanks to all!

I enjoyed your whimsical drawing, because I believe we can all relate to the fears which we occasionally endure. May we all have the strength, courage, and wisdom to overcome life's challenges. Blessings!

I loved your drawing. So true to the fears, real or imaginary we all have. I still can't dive into a pool or lake. I can jump in...but not dive!

I love all the little creatures in the water...makes it so whimsical but real too.

I'm also really glad to CT back up and running...Good luck on the prize.

Loved Shostakovich's 8th Symphony. I love this music. Thank you for your nice comment on my blog. Yes you CAN! You can do whatever you set your mind to doing. Just do it! Love your fun drawing. Remember we all have fears. I can't walk across a bridge that has the freeway under it or a bridge above the street. I panic and my knees give in. Ayeeeeee! tee hee. We'll be strong together.:)

Love your drawing, it shows exactly your rational fear. Lots of lovely colour and fun animals as well. Great start to the new CT's challenges.

that's my fear my too, it's probably why I still don't know how to swim. but that's a great interpretion of your fear and the ct theme.

hope you have a great day.

Visiting from CT - Your interpretation is very cleverly done. It's easy to see the ladies knees shaking with fear. I don't blame her, seeing what is below :o)

Thought provoking piece! Jumping in can be hard for me too, I love the way you've interpreted this theme.

I totally agree with Linda's comment above, Alicia. Well done. this speaks alot and I see alot of creative expression here. this must have taken you time in its catharsis of sorts.

Yes, I hear you about fears too but you know, I never did jump off that edge as a kid either. Would have rather been paralyze by fear than by my body. You've actually given me a great idea for a future post though on this theme so thank you for that.

RE the giveaway. I have no idea who will win but am doing the random number generator immediately after I've visited everyone tonight and left comments. SO glad you are back. It really is like a reunion amongst friends, isn't it? Love that.
