buT THEN i didn't like it so I created this one (below)

It's hard to judge SCALABILITY when creating things, and is one of the graphic design tenets that are driven into our skulls during our first year of graphic design.

I recommend anyone with a creative eye and a healthy dose of masochism to go into the graphic design major at any local art college - a good program is grueling, demanding, thankless, and hard to get into - and once in it, hard to stay in. But what you learn is priceless! I personally was not in the position to take more than one semester of it but in that semester I learned so much.

Back to buttons: Still not competely satisfied. Part of the problem I'm having is I am currently refusing to log onto the mac with the 'real' software (IE Illustrator, Photoshop) and thus am struggling with silly Windows Paint - needless to say had I from the get go just logged onto the mac this would have been done by now. As we say in Chile, the lazy man works twice as hard!

UPDATE: Finally had a moment to get on the big Mac (affectionate term for the old G5 that has the software) and came up with this, which to me is vastly better, even if only due to visibility:

Creative Tuesdays - Everyday Happiness

I can't resist.

What can represent everyday happiness more than our carefree school days- where the littlest thing is an excuse for hilarity or epiphany? Especially, say, before holidays or a field trip...

Let me explain.

I was digging through old stuff and found this primitive, school-age author/illustrator/publisher project of mine. I wrote the story (some long winded thing re. a trip on hot air balloons), illustrated, printed, and then bound it. I was pretty excited about finding it and seeing it the past, or me at 11 or whatnot -- what most struck me was the amusing level of intricacy and narrative in the imagery, especially those illustrations relating to in-class adventures. Plenty of everyday happiness to be found there!

 Incredible narrative & specificity exists re. characters' styles, clothing, personality & activity. I was surprised. I  mention it at all due to a previous old habit of rolling my eyes at everything I'd done, even as of a year ago, so its cool to look at something this old and be like "oh that was pretty neat"

So...... I hope this passes muster, as it were :D It WAS made by me albeit eons ago, and decidedly represents some everyday joy

Creative Tuesdays - Healthy

Just in time for today's Creative Tuesdays theme (health), I spoke to a friend who works at the Living Foods Institute in Atlanta. I had volunteered there before and in general have been very receptive to the ideas & outcomes of living a raw/living foods lifestyle. Though I have engaged in it on/off over the years, I have found myself deficient in time/habits/resources to make a go of it. Whenever I do, though, I feel rejuvenated!

The one thing I have taken away and do fairly consistently is juicing, especially green juices. At times when I have felt tremendously bloated, stressed, or unwell, I will juice fast for a day or two.

I am contemplating, if not a juice fast then at least incorporating more green juices into my life after I finish my long standing intensive Epic Painting Project!
