Am posting this rather dire image from another fiverr gig, mainly to illustrate the "blissfully" nicotine-free state I have enjoyed lately.I have written about this earlier, and what can I say, it has become an on-again, off-again project since about 2009, quitting smoking.
What I would like to know at this point is a rather informal survey:
what's worse, cigarette addiction or sugar addiction?
And the real problem is not how much I miss cigarettes - and many things about the smoking state gall me, both in action & in retrospect - but, for some reason, it seems, contrary to all indications, it's only a month or so after being clean that I start fiending for the stuff for reals. People love to say 'the stuff's out of your system in 3 days' - LIARS!!!
the other sad thing is living in western North Carolina - tobacco country - where smoking is practically an act of economic solidarity. IE --- hard to go into the topic of quitting pains with the 78 year old granny who's still happy puffing away, in spite of all dire prognoses re. said dirty habit
In addition, I find myself feeling icky & unwell through the obvious replacement: sugar. So then it seems - what's really worse-- icky bloaty feeling or icky smokey feeling? There's a third choice of course - detox from all of it. HAH! That will be the day... indeed...
speaking of DETOX, I am launching a 2 month Spring Cleaning of my Etsy store. I am selling all - I mean, ALL - in my Etsy store for 30% off + free shipping within continental U.S. Amongst some items are Epoxy creations, dreamy nature photography (digital or prints available), & some oil on wood pieces. Hoping to clear out inventory so as to add more. So if you know anybody....Codes (can be used simultaneously as far as I can tell):

Well done you... the habit takes ages to get over... I've been smoke free for 21 years now... keep going, your health will thank you in years to come.. :)
with time your cravings will lessen. a thought that just came is to make big salads... always some on hand. eating the greens will balance desire for sweets and ground you. Then you might get to feel good and that will strengthen your resolve. I am not sure which is worse sugar verses nic. but one only effects you, the other effects everyone around you. I wish you courage and strength and pride in your choice to care for yourself.
wonderful to see your art.
Good luck with fighting the cravings. Keep fighting.
good for you! it's hard, but worth giving up smoking...i've been smoke free since 1989. I used to take deep breaths when i had a craving a tell myself i can breath and not feel pain.. it worked for me! I like your sketch too.
Today marks 3 years since my Ogre has quit smoking! I am proud of you both, and wish you best in the continuous struggle. Very powerful drawing.
well done creations ~ as for 'addictions' ~ we all have something ~ judging it uses up one's energy~ rather send it into creative expression ~ that is 'my take' on it ~thanks, namaste, ^_^
a dire image indeed! you can quit Alicia, you can! Cigarettes are worse than sugar in this case!
well done on each little victory and all the best on the continuing battle. may you keep on keeping on no matter what (even with the smoking grandmas around)
thanksyou all for your well wishes :D I started when I was 16 or so & who knows... some day I've got to stop.... I figure it's a process & will learn eventually all there is to learn aboout it and then - not do it again!!!
Remember the days when you were so bent on Kurt and I quitting smoking that you would hide the cigs from us and then dole them out one by one ONLY AFTER we paid you for them? How you thought it was a disgusting habit that no one in their right mind should ever take up? Oh, those days... (for the record, we eventually quit). I wish you the best of luck, but PLEASE don't kill yourself in the process!
Keep it up! I quitted smoking after almost 20 years. I've been clean for 7 years now, but I never minded quitting. I didn't miss it at all.
Amazing drawing!
I love your artwork! You have many different styles and media use. I love also the paintings you've done on wood? If that is what it is. I'll have to go back and look again.
