when I think about the fact that we may soon be leaving this house, I find the existence of this painting interesting.

Also, I find it noteworthy that I made a large, overpowering chainlink fence - I mean, the fence exists, but the fact I chose to emphasize it so much sort of shows me that deep down I've always known that this house and this property is essentially a big burden, a big drain that holds us down a lot.

A lot of deadwood; a lot that's trapping, a lot of the past stacked in corners and locked away in cubby holes everywhere you look.

A lot of the typical unfinished/unfinishable projects, vestiges of old selves left to rot and remind us of all the ways we've maybe failed.

A portrait of a weak and crappy financial house, lack of discipline, unresolvable ideas/ideals, and the weight of foolish decisions.

Maybe it's time to slough off all that. It won't be neat, and it won't be pretty. In many ways I'd much prefer a cleaner, gentler transition, but is it not true that sometimes you just have to make a clean break?

I don't really know, I guess we'll see.
